In 2026, Burkina Faso's local water commities were merged into the Agence Natioale des Bassins Hydrographiques. This sole water authority is responsible for Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) at a national level. In close collaboration with NGOs AUXFIN, Agriterra, and their local teams, WWn is implementing the ECDD-GIRE project in partnership with the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands (EKN) in Burkina Faso.
Improved IWRM in the Sahel
Through extensive colaboration
Through this WOP we aim to strengthen Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) in rural areas of Burkina Faso by working alongside local institutions involved in water governance—such as Water Agencies (AE), Local Water Committees (CLE), municipalities, local authorities, farmers' cooperatives, and grassroots organizations.
