A new chapter for World Waternet: farewell to Frodo van Oostveen and a welcome to Bertrand van Ee

22-10-2026

After seven years of dedicated leadership, Frodo van Oostveen is handing over the reins at World Waternet. Bertrand van Ee will take up the post of interim Chief Executive Officer (CEO) on 1 November. At the same time, the search for a new permanent CEO for World Waternet is underway.

Thanks to Frodo van Oostveen

With the departure of Frodo van Oostveen, we bid farewell to a passionate leader who has made a significant contribution to the development of World Waternet. Together with colleagues, partners and stakeholders, he worked to strengthen our international water cycle partnerships and to secure investments that contribute to sustainable water solutions both at home and abroad.

Under his leadership, World Waternet continued to grow as a partner for cities, water companies and governments worldwide. His unifying style, energy and focus on collective impact have meant a great deal to our organisation and the people we work with.

Although Frodo is stepping down from his role as CEO, he remains involved in Amsterdam’s water sector. For instance, he continues to serve as a board member of the Amsterdam City Swim. We wish him every success and enjoyment in his next venture and thank him for everything he has done for World Waternet.

Welcome to interim CEO Bertrand van Ee

From 1 November, we welcome Bertrand van Ee as interim Chief Executive Officer.

Bertrand brings with him more than 25 years’ management experience. He has held various CEO positions and has also served as a board member and adviser. His expertise lies at the intersection of technology, innovation, sustainability and organisational development.

His experience aligns well with World Waternet’s international ambitions. During his career at Haskoning, he was closely involved in international activities within the water sector. He also played an active role within the Top Sector Water and the Dutch Trade Board.

In recent years, Bertrand was CEO of Hardt Hyperloop, where he worked on innovative mobility solutions for the future. He also holds various roles as a non-executive director.

Bertrand is looking forward to his new role:

I am looking forward to meeting my colleagues at Waternet and AGV and working together on the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead. The societal challenge of water requires collaboration, expertise and a forward-looking approach, and World Waternet’s mission particularly appeals to me.

With his extensive experience in leadership, collaboration and change management, Bertrand will guide the organisation in the coming period and contribute to the further development of World Waternet.

Looking for a new CEO
