World Waternet CEO Frodo van Oostveen to step down end of 2026
Dear partners,
After nearly seven years at the helm of World Waternet, CEO Frodo van Oostveen has decided to leave the organisation at the end of this year. Together with the supervisory board, Frodo is ensuring a smooth transition of leadership. As he prepares for a new chapter, the Board of World Waternet will also work closely with the team to ensure continuity of work, and determine the next steps for the organisation's leadership and future direction. Further details will be announced in due course.

It’s time for a new (water) adventure. I am incredibly proud of what we have achieved together, with our dedicated team and the many partners who have been part of this journey. What we have built has lasting value, already impacting 3.8 million people, and I am grateful to everyone who has contributed to this. I look forward to seeing how World Waternet continues its mission – healthy water cycles for all – and to growing and making an even greater impact, with the same passion, curiosity and determination that have brought us this far.
Over the past years, World Waternet has developed into an entrepreneurial and innovative water cycle partner for cities, water authorities and drinking water companies worldwide. Increasingly, the organisation is evolving from a Dutch knowledge initiative towards Water Cycle Partnerships: long-term public-private collaborations that connect the entire water cycle with sustainable finance, while enabling local water organisations and their water operators to remain the driving force of change.

Under Frodo’s leadership, World Waternet has grown in impact and maturity, without ever losing sight of its mission. His unifying leadership and clear vision have meant a great deal to the team and our partners. As World Waternet enters a new chapter, we are grateful to him for everything he has done for the organisation and look forward to continuing our collaboration in the coming months.
World Waternet has a clear ambition for 2030: enabling more than 6 million people to benefit from a healthy water cycle. We are proud to continue the implementation of the WaterworX (Waternet drinkwater Amsterdam) and Blue Deal (Waterschap Amstel, Gooi & Vecht) programmes for another four years. Together with our colleagues and WOP partners worldwide we continue our almost 20-year-long commitment to Integrated Water Resources Management.
In March 2027, World Waternet celebrates its twentieth anniversary. It is a milestone that reflects how far the organisation has come: from a Dutch knowledge initiative to a regenerative international organisation with a clear mission and the ambition to give 1% sustainable finance a permanent place in how the water sector invests in healthy water cycles worldwide.
