This project strengthens the financial, technical, and operational capacity of SOMAGEP, the national public water supply company in Mali. SOMAGEP faces major challenges in providing safe drinking water to its customers.
Through a peer-to-peer Water Operators’ Partnership (WOP), the project focuses on mapping the water network (GIS), reducing water losses (Non-Revenue Water), improving water quality, and adapting to climate change.
In Bamako, these efforts have already reduced water losses and improved the delivery of drinking water. The project also carries out capacity building with stakeholders to develop skills and strategies for attracting more donors.
The ultimate goal is to make SOMAGEP financially sustainable so it can continue to deliver reliable drinking water across Mali.
