Topics

This project is about supporting the people behind the pipes, the engineers, planners, and utility staff at Yarmouk Water Company, so they can deliver better water and sanitation services to northern Jordan. Through peer-to-peer learning, hands-on workshops, and technical guidance, we are helping YWC improve how they produce and deliver clean drinking water, treat wastewater, and manage vital infrastructure.

We are focusing on three key areas: producing drinking water in a more climate-resilient and energy-efficient way, improving sewer networks and wastewater treatment plants, and building smarter systems for asset management and strategic planning. These efforts are not just about technology, they are about strengthening teams, increasing reliability, and planning for future challenges such as population growth and water scarcity.

At the heart of it all is a simple idea: utilities helping utilities. By sharing knowledge and experience, we are building lasting improvements, not just for YWC, but for the people and communities it serves.

Results

Our goal is to help Yarmouk Water Company become a stronger, more resilient utility that can meet community needs now and in the future. We are working to improve access to safe drinking water, particularly in areas where services are less reliable, and to ensure that wastewater is treated safely and sustainably.

Day-to-day operations are being strengthened through better maintenance, more efficient energy use, and the use of smart planning tools. Strategic asset management will support future planning, guide investment decisions, and reduce operational risks, making the utility more sustainable and attractive to funders.

Just as important is investing in people. Through staff training, peer-to-peer exchanges, and joint planning, we are building skills, knowledge, and confidence within YWC. By aligning these efforts with Jordan’s national water goals, we are contributing to a more reliable, inclusive, and climate-resilient water future for northern Jordan.
