We support utilities in becoming self-reliant and transparent, with strong local ownership and clear responsibilities to deliver sustainable and trusted water services.

Our approach

Sustainable acces to clean, sufficient and safe water for all
Healthy water cycles (SDG6) and climate action (SDG13)
Water is life's most precious resource, yet it is far from guaranteed. That's why we're on a mission to tackle water challenges head-on and ensure clean, safe, and sufficient water for all. By strengthening water organisations and optimising water cycles worldwide, we help build a future where water flows freely, sustainably, and equitably. We support the sustainable development goals of the United Nations.
We believe that a healthy water cycle should be treated as a global common good, for future generations, in the interest of all

Collective intelligence & action
With our water cycle partnerships and 1% sustainable finance
Water Cycle Partnerships
Solving the global water crisis takes more than pipes and pumps, it requires people. Through our Water Cycle Partnerships, we work with public water partners (Water Operator Partnerships – WOPs) and their communities to strengthen performance and build future-proof water systems.
We do this by focusing on capacity building and learn from each other by connecting local water operators with global experts, knowledge institutions and financiers. This collaboration relies on strong alliances and smart workforce planning. By matching the right expertise to the right challenge, we create practical, lasting solutions that improve lives and regenerate ecosystems.

1% for the water cycle
We call for 1% of all water sector investments to be dedicated to capacity building, because lasting impact starts with people. When funding supports the skills and systems behind the infrastructure, water solutions become truly sustainable from the inside out.

Partnering for stronger water operators
4 Critical Success Factors (CSF)
At World Waternet, our mission is clear: to regenerate water cycles by empowering local water operators. We do this through long-term Water Operators' Partnerships (WOPs) that combine capacity building, innovation, and collective action. Our services support our partners to become self-sustaining, resilient and future-proof.
We measure our impact by strengthening what we call the Maturity Level of our WOPs—this reflects how well a local water organisation can deliver clean, safe, and sufficient water services for all.
To help partners level up, we focus on four critical success factors:
Autonomous governance & accountability
Integrated Water Resources Management
We promote a holistic approach that safeguards the full water cycle, balances human and ecosystem needs, and fosters cooperation between upstream and downstream users.
Operational efficiency
We improve operational efficiency by aligning utilities with international standards, strengthening procedures, and optimising asset management to ensure reliable and sustainable water services.
Financial Sustainability
We strengthen financial sustainability by reducing water losses, ensuring fair tariffs, and improving investment and procurement so utilities can maintain and expand reliable services.
