Happy World Water Day from Tanzania!
19 March 2024In anticipation of the celebration of World Water Day on March 22nd, the water company Moruwasa from Morogoro, Tanzania, and World Waternet - within the scope of the WaterWorx programme, are joining forces. From March 16th to 22nd, 2024, we are collectively organizing a special campaign week to raise awareness about the importance of water.
1000 happy customers
During this week, the first 1000 customers or households have the opportunity to sign up for the restoration of their water supply by Moruwasa. This applies to customers whose water supply has been suspended for more than two months due to overdue payments.
Normalizing paymentsThese first 1000 customers will be reconnected to the water supply. Notably, the reconnection costs ("Reconnection Fee") will be covered by World Waternet, on condition that at least 50 percent of the existing debt to Moruwasa is paid. New reconnections will also contribute to less Non Revenue Water.
Water inequalityWater inequality in Tanzania remains a challenge. Despite the country's rich water resources, many people still lack access to safe drinking water and sanitation facilities, especially in rural areas. This initiative emphasizes the fundamental right to clean drinking water and hygiene, essential for a dignified existence.
A healthy water existenceReconnecting households to regulated water sources reduces health risks and promotes economic empowerment. It also contributes to environmental protection by reducing pollution from unregulated sources. On World Water Day, we strive for a fairer and more sustainable access to water for everyone. |
