Henk Post receives the order of knighthood in Burkina Faso
02 January 2020Henk Post, international coordinator at Drents Overijssel Delta Water Board (WDODelta), has received the order of knighthood (Chevalier de L'ordre de Mérite) from Burkina Faso for his creditable work for the Ministry of Water and Sanitation (MEA) the five water authorities in Burkina Faso.
Chevalier de L'ordre de Mérite
On Monday, December 23, 2019 in Ouagadougou, Henk Post was distinguished as Chevalier de L'ordre de Mérite. Henk Post started working in Burkina Faso around 40 years ago. He now coordinates the World Waternet programme 'Faso Koom'. In this programme, five Dutch water authorities work together with five Burkinabé water authorities. Henk Post has also played a major role in a project to renovate various large reservoirs. These are essential for the water supply in Burkina Faso.
Henk Post was one of 11 partners to receive this honorable sign of appreciation for their commitments for the ministry. The Minister of Water and Sanitation, Ambroise Niouga OUEDRAOGO chaired the ceremony. He congratulated the recipients and urged them to transmit their enthusiasms, commitment, dedication and will to other stakeholders.
Henk Post expressed his gratitude and dedicated it to all his collaborators, without whom, he said, there would have been no results. He noted that the water sector is vital for socio-economic development in Burkina Faso and he invites all partners and collaborators of the Ministry to make more efforts for better control of the water sector in Burkina Faso and to ensure efficient management of water resources.
Faso Koom
In 2011, the first regional water authority (Agence de l’ Eau) was formally created in Burkina Faso. Another four followed in the years after. The five Agences de l’ Eau are responsible for the implementation of integrated water resources management in Burkina Faso. Doing so, the Agences de l’Eau are making sure the water sources are equally distributed amongst water users.
Faso Koom aims to support the young but ambitious Agences de l'Eau in their journey towards becoming professional and skilled water authorities. The Faso Koom consortium was initiated by Henk Post in 2016 with funding from the NWB Bank and was able to continue with support from the Blue Deal programme (You are leaving this website).
